Will I have to pay fees?
Learning Programmes at Level 3 and Below
School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies.
If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £27,295. Find more information on Advanced Learner Loans on our website.
If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived:
- Job Seeker's Allowance
- Income Support
You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course).
Higher Education Courses at Level 4 and Above
The fee payable for your course is displayed in the table above and can be paid for in a number of ways:
- HE Loan
- Instalment Payment Plan
- Payment in full
* If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement.

Entry Requirements
AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and maths and either a merit at AAT level 2 or similar. An interview is required.

Course Information
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is a
potential stepping stone for students to take into employment, further education or training.
It may be suited to students studying part time alongside
employment or to those already working in finance. This qualification will
also suit those looking to gain the skills required to move into a career in
finance as it provides a clear pathway towards a successful career in accounting
and finance. On completion, students can progress to take the AAT Professional
Diploma in Accounting.
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting
covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the
preparation of reports and returns. It comprises six mandatory units (390 guided learning
hours):
• Advanced Bookkeeping
• Final Accounts
Preparation
• Management Accounting -
Costing
• Indirect Tax
• Ethics for Accountants
• Spreadsheets for
Accounting
In addition to the course fees, you will
also be required to purchase set books (approximately £400 but your
lecturer will provide more information on this) and join the AAT as a
student member (approximate cost £150).

Assessment
All of the units within this qualification are mandatory. Four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments. This qualification also includes a synoptic assessment that students sit towards the end of the qualification, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.
