The Extended Diploma in Performing Arts allows you to choose a unique pathway which is tailored to your existing skills and those you wish to develop further. This is a highly practical programme which allows for study over a variety of disciplines.

The course includes:

·         Acting

·         Singing

·         Dance

·         Musical theatre.

Acting units will focus on works by different practitioners, including Brecht, Stanislavski, Berkoff, and Shakespeare, as well as the application of techniques such as physical theatre, voice-over acting, devising and interpreting texts, commedia dell’arte, and character development. You will also train in directing performances, for those who wish to create their own company.

Musical units will examine vocal anatomy, solo and ensemble singing, and voice-training techniques. A variety of musical styles are performed throughout the year, and you will have the opportunity to enter into graded singing examinations for the London College of Music.

Dance units will combine classes with our highly successful dance course, focusing on contemporary and jazz dance, drawing on the techniques of Bob Fosse and Martha Graham.

Technical theatre routes can also be explored within this course, with students learning the processes of stage management, lighting and sound operation.
