Will I have to pay fees?

Learning Programmes at Level 3 and Below

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies.

If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £27,295. Find more information on Advanced Learner Loans on our website.

If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived:

  • Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Income Support

You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course).


Higher Education Courses at Level 4 and Above

The fee payable for your course is displayed in the table above and can be paid for in a number of ways:

  • HE Loan
  • Instalment Payment Plan
  • Payment in full

* If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement.

It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English and at least one of the following:

  • Level 3 Extended Diploma (UAL, BTEC or equivalent) equating to a minimum of 72 UCAS points
  • A Levels including Performing Arts or Dance (min grade C) equating to a minimum of 48 UCAS points.

You will also need to present two strong audition pieces demonstrating performance capabilities. 

Non-traditional entry with alternative qualifications or experience, for example mature students, with relevant experience may also be considered.



Course Information

The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts is aimed at developing a range of performance skills (acting, voice, musical theatre singing and movement). The course combines a solid grounding in a variety of techniques and performance styles with a clear emphasis on theoretical understanding of performance arts.

This full time course is delivered by experienced professionals in addition, the College maintains links with local theatres and performance companies, offering workshops and opportunities with these organisations. We invite guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds providing valuable insights into professional and creative performing arts practice. 

The course will offer training in a broad range of skills and develop your understanding of how to create theatre for an audience.

Progression

Successful completion of a Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts will provide you with a range of options when it comes to your progression.

These include:

  • Applying to University to join in Year 2 of the relevant degree
  • Applying to University to study a full 3 year degree
  • Applying to Drama School to study a full 3 year degree

Through a series of initial 1:1 tutorials, we will support you in identifying your preferred destination following your HNC. We will then support and guide you through the application, audition and interview process. Our lecturers are experienced and invested in supporting students as they continue on their chosen pathway and want to help you achieve your potential.
